Author Interview with JW:
1) Can you tell us a little about yourself?
I favor romance with a little smut. Who am I kidding? I favor life with a little smut. I am shy, but loud. I was voted by the other moms at the ball field to be the least likely to get a tattoo. I already had my first tat at the time. I go to church then I rush over to march in a gay pride parade. I am me and even when I annoy myself, I wouldn’t change a thing.

2) Do you have a favorite spot to write?

My couch with a large glass of Mello Yello and snuggled close to my puppy Mia.

3) If your book were made into a movie, who do you picture playing each characters part?

They are so ingrained in my mind, it is hard to picture anyone playing them. I truly believe I would want an unknown to play the parts.

4) Which of your characters would you like to meet in person and why?

Ethan because who wouldn’t want to meet a man like him.

5) What is the hardest scene you have ever written?

The last one in INNOCENT LIES. My heart broke for the both of them.

6) What's the last book you read?

Hunny Bunny, Funny Bunny to my two year old neighbor.

7) What's one random fact about yourself that you can share?

My two middle toes are grown together.

8) What’s your favorite outside activity?

Outside of writing: watching movies with my kids. Outside in the yard: trying to get back inside.

9) When can we expect a second book in Dylan and Ethan's story?

If I can stay out of the hospital, October 1st 2014.

10) What project are you working on now?

Pretty Little Lies, part two in the story of Ethan and Dylan.

Summer Author Promo Blitz - Guest Post with Author Alexia Purdy and a GIVEAWAY!

Working on A Dark Faerie Tale series

I've been asked what series is my baby, my one true love and why. It’s hard to pick, but if I had to pick, it would be ‘A Dark Faerie Tale Series’ about a girl named Shade who falls into a world that exists right alongside ours full of magic, faeries and treachery. Come to find she’s half faery herself and is destined to be the one to save the Seelie realm of Faeries from the treacherous Unseelie Queen Aveta.

How’s that for pressure? Shade is a complicated character and she evolves from a vulnerable teen who knows nothing of magic, weaponry or even how to deal with the dangers of the outdoors, to a confident wielder of rare magic and a true Queen in and of herself who rules grace and acquires many loyal followers.

I wanted a character to be vulnerable and change throughout the series instead of starting with a confident girl who really doesn't evolve much at all. I felt it was more authentic and the way she hardens, yet stays true to herself, becomes more evident throughout each story.

Writing this series has been an emotional ride to me. I did have to do some research on Faeries, their culture and legends and also create an entire world all in my head and convey that onto paper. It’s been one the most difficult tasks I've ever taken on, but well worth it in the end when I see readers pick up the series and come back with their imaginations running away with them after immersing themselves in the world of Faerie.

The world of a Dark Faerie Tale Series takes a reader into a realm of fantasy that sweeps them away and truly never lets you go. Give it a try!

Excerpt from ‘A Dark Faerie Tale Series Omnibus: Ever Shade (A Dark Faerie Tale Series #1)’

She pressed her lips together, shaking her head. It was useless to talk to Dylan; the walls he built around himself were too thick. She could almost feel them pressing up against her, palpable and frigid.
“Why don’t you just go away?” Shade hissed at him, irritated. She began scooting away when he grabbed the sleeve of her hoodie. Looking up, she expected an angry glare but found an ocean of pain floating behind his eyes.
His mouth tensed with unexpected emotions, making her consider the seriousness of the situation. “I would, but I can’t. Like a cord between us, it binds me to you. Where you go, I must then follow. If you go too far, I am compelled to search for you until I find you. If I try to run, I would freeze in my own steps and be made to turn back. I’m anything but free. I’m your slave. I intend to see this to its finality and end it.” He snickered then and let her go. “’til death do us part, Shade.” He ripped off a bite of his jerky and chewed without looking back at her.

I asked Renee a few questions about her writing:

What made you want to write romances for adults?
I’m not sure if any one thing made me want to write for adults but I love to read romance and for me it was a natural extension. I do also write nitty gritty young adult, new adult and I’m working on a very exciting new project for 2014.

Patty Campbell talks about the germ for a piece of writing being like the sand in the oyster.  What is your grain of sand?  Do you begin with character or setting or something else?
For me it’s always a character. The characters talk in my head and then the story morphs and viola – a novel erupts.

Do you outline before you write or just dive in?
I do a combination of both. I’m more a seat of the pant writer but with time issues I’ve discovered a good outline is key for me.

Who is your favorite character you have written or read about?
I’d have to say I love Jamie, my strong heroine in my first romance novel – Rapture. I loved her because she’s normal but then discovers she’s actually a lost Siren princess and who doesn’t want to be a princess.

What books or authors have most influenced your writing most?
JR Ward I love all her books. Sandra King because her humor makes me honestly LOL, and people I admire the most would be my two local romance authors Deborah Hale and Julianne MacLean who were instrumental in me joining RWA and my local Romance Writers of Atlantic Canada.

Which famous person, living or dead would you like to meet and why?
I would have loved to meet Princess Diana and I’d ask her how going from ordinary to princess status felt.

What is one thing you would like your readers to know about you?
I love to help other writers. I created an on-line company called to help showcase other authors.

Tell us about your latest book, Loving Lies?

Blake Samson is a man driven to succeed. Having grown up with a disinherited, alcoholic father, he knows the value of money and isn’t afraid to work for it.  Now, with a degree in business, he’s out to prove himself to his wealthy grandfather. Securing his first major deal by acquiring Stone Cliff Resort at a rock bottom price will confirm that he’s a wheeler-dealer type who won’t take no for an answer, just like the old man. To accomplish his goals, Blake has put his personal life on hold, determined to remain focused on the prize, until the sexy little Gothed-up bartender dumps a drink in his lap.
Having a wealthy, Greek tycoon for a father wasn’t easy for Alyssa Papadopoulos, especially one who still believed in the archaic tradition of arranged marriages to secure a business deal. Now, three years after skipping out on the groom, she’d been on her own, coping in the real world with a new name, a new look and fake history that guaranteed no one would associate her with her father. Accepting a job at Stone Cliff Resort in Alberta provides her with a secure income and the opportunity to work on her one true love—photography. Getting involved with a rich bad boy didn’t factor into the plan. Too bad she hasn’t dated in months, and Mr. McDreamy of the lake has dimples to die for and a body that makes her hormones stand up and scream, Oh, hell yes!
Alyssa tries to avoid Blake, but he’s determined they enjoy some summer loving, offering her a deal filled with stolen kisses and hot steamy nights she finds impossible to resist. When Blake’s father dies and the world he's struggled to build begins to crumble, will Alyssa reveal the truth she so desperately holds on to, or will two people lying about their past give themselves permission to love.
